Hey everyone currently I have a 8800GS and I bought a 24'' full HD monitor, is the 9800GT full HD good for playing games on 1920x1080. Thankshttp://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info%26cPath=193_715%26products_id=11440Thats the GFX i plan to buy, if its good.Is the 9800GT a good graphics card?
okay ill be blunt with this so thers dont need to be:the good: its significantly better than your 8800gs you will easily notice a 20% improvementthe bad: the 9800gt is an 8800gts with a different sticker.. literallythe verdict: good upgrade but if you can find an 8800gts you will save yourself a little bit of money (which is always nice)Is the 9800GT a good graphics card?
I currently own an XFX 9800 GT and game on a 22'' LCD monitor at 1680x1050. Games like Mass Effect, Street Figher IV %26 the Demo of Batman: AA run smoothly. For 1920x1080 gaming though, most people would suggest at the very least a video card that is at least a step up from the 9800 GT w/c is the Nvidia GTS 250. I say this since I also posed this question to other users in this forum and that is what they said. I'm personally looking to get a GTX 275 (or even better0 when I get the cash for a new i5 gaming rig . I''m going to buy a PS3 Slim first, so I'm gonna hold off the new video card and rig purchase for now.
Thanks for the replys guys, I appreciate it.
If your mobo supports SLI you might want to just get a second 8800GS. If not the 9800GT is a repackaged 8800GT. they are exactly the same. You can actually change the bios of your 8800GT to a 9800GT and it will work. I would say spend the few extra dollars and get SLI, if that's not possible try getting a 9800GTX or one of those that are stronger than a 9800GT.
If you want a single card GPU go for a GTX260, or possibly GTX275. (Or if you want ATI wait until october for DX11)
I might just buy a GTX 260 soon or if DX11 looks promising I'll just wait for a ATI card. My mobo supports SLI but I can't find a GS anywhere.
If your desperate for a new card go for either a 4890 or a GTX 275.
