So one day after being tired of moderated I decided ''hai guys let's see if this will work'' So I went ahead and posted thishttp://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=27033123%26tag=topics;titleWell it basically compares the differences between an emulator and an emulator. One is a pc emulator while the other emulates a console. Emulators only emulate hardware. So I asked what is the difference if I mentioned virtualbox to emulate a powerpc macos on an x86 processor(this way it won't be native and it will be slow) to emulating a ps2 with say pcsx2.Think of any? Not really, it's the same thing: They both need an operating system, which are both copyrighted material, it's up to the owner of how they are going to get them. With a pc it's probably Windows, up to him on how he's going to get it. On a PS2, you can get it from your own PS2.And if you say ''well one is just for games'', well no, you can run 100% legal homebrew.Anyway I am repeating what I said, but what are your opinions? Everything they said makes no sense, they are just ignoring the fact that there is no difference, they are both open source under the GNU liscense. (Virtualbox is, not all emulators)Who do you think is right? Some moderators or a guy who is a genius :P ?I need your excellente opinions
Zealots or Scientist?I always thought of the mods as the thought police. Why is it ok for kids to read about murder in school, but we can't talk about some simple games?Sounds absurd to me.I need your excellente opinions
lol, no subtlety there. But honestly, I can understand both sides of the argument. The mods don't want any talk of console emulators because trading of roms may happen through the site, which can get them fined maybe? On the other hand, most emulators are in fact perfectly legal, and I for one am interested in using emulators for things like my old pc games (I knew I should've kept that Voodoo 3). But all that being said, I do see people talking about certain emulators without any recourse. It's just the ones relating to consoles that seem to spark a flame, so I don't even mention them...
