Just wonering...what are some of the differences between these two processors and which one you think is better.i5 vs. i7
Specify on if you mean 900 series or 800 series. If you just mean i7 860 %26 870: they're just better CPUs with the same socket.i5 vs. i7
You're not going to get very detailed answers here. Just read a review of the i5 750 and the i7 860/70.
The Core i3 will replace Celeron
The Core i5 is a slightly dumbed down/ cheaper version of the i7
In 2010 the 6 core 12 thread 32nm Core i9 CPU will be released%26#65279;, supposedly with the LGA-1366 socket.Good i7 vs i5 review %26 benchmarks:http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/core_i5?page=0%2C0http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content%26task=view%26id=361%26Itemid=63%26limit=1%26limitstart=0
In terms of actual performance, the i5 is actually a fantastic processor. When comparing it to the i7 920, it usually has the upper hand in most games and apps that do not use hyperthreading. The only 2 issues with the i5 is its lack for native multi-GPU support and lack of hyperthreading. But when you look at the cost of both processors, the obvious choice right now would be the i5 750.
i5 if you can't afford an i7.. other wise if your going top end i7 9xx series then switch over to the i9 when it's released.
Thx. I want aware the i9 was coming out soon.
i9 should be Q1-Q2 2010, only for 1366. The best Cpu on the roadmap currently for LGA 1156 would be the i7 870 with i5 750s and i7 860s coming later on.
