Hey guys I was just wondering if there is a noticeable difference between VGA and DVI when gaming on an LCD monitor.Is there a noticeable difference between VGA and DVI?
You don't have to increase or decrease the sharpness with DVI, while VGA you would need to calibrate it. Other than that I couldn't tell you any other difference between the two.Is there a noticeable difference between VGA and DVI?
In a word, Yes but HDMI is best IMO.
I don't think there is, not a noticeable difference anyway.
Nothing really noticeable.

DVI and HDMI are exactly the same so far as video signals go. Both are digital, so it's 1s and 0s, i.e. you either have a picture or you don't. Both also have the ability to transmit HD Audio but this is a standard with HDMI and not so much with DVI.
No more calibration.
Signal stays digital, so for LCD's, that usually means a crisper image.
In a word, Yes but HDMI is best IMO.
HDMI also can't support higher than 1920x1080 resolution - same with VGA.
(Dual-link) DVI on the other hand can support up to 2560x1600. And probably more with stuff like that Matrox TripleHead2Go attachment.
Minor calibration for monitors will still be beneficial. but I agree that since it's digital your already getting a more refined image.

If you have two identical monitors, displaying two identical images, one using VGA and one using DVI you can see some subtle color differences, and depending on the monitors, some sharpness and contrast differences as well. VGA is capable with a bit of tweaking, of displaying a fairly identical image, though DVI is best for higher resolutions.
VGA = Analog
DVI = Digital
It's rather easy to figure out which one is better.
My LCD screen supports both. But my PC only has VGA. If you can go DVI but there isnt really a difference, unless your using a HDMI cord.
DVI is better but you won't notice the difference most of the time. To notice a big difference you'ld have to be using expensive IPS panels instead of the regular TN panels.
Technically there's a difference but I'll be damned if I can see it.
(I still use DVI/HDMI on my computers, though)
On cheap LCD's there is little difference in image quality, if any. Most LCD's fall under this category these days. You don't have to calibrate with DVI .
