My microphone works fine in my other computer but in my new build it can't ''hear'' anything. I've got an Antec 900 case with an 8800GT and no added sound card. I'm running Vista x64 and have no other audio problems. Should I plug it into the case or the card? Any ideas on configuring Vista? Thanks.Mic not working
What card? You said you didn't add a sound card. Plug it into the same device you use for your speakers/headphones. Also, go to the sound control panel and make sure the mic is not muted and the proper sound card is selected in the device menu.Mic not working
Plug the front panel plug into the front panel audio socket on the motherboard. Read your manual. And what are you thinking of plugging the cable into if you don't have a sound card other than the motherboard? But if you have a soundcard, it depends what it is.
OK, and sorry about the word mix-up in the last post, I meant ''should it go into the board or the case?''Here's where I stand:My case's front ports are plugged into the AUDIO1 area of my motherboard, but neither the speakers or mic work from those ports. The case plug has options for HD-audio and AC'97 audio. I used HD since my Abit ip35 pro manual told me the computer would basically explode if I used AC'97.My speakers work fine from the rear port of my motherboard, but I get nothing out of the mic port, though Vista claims the device is present and functioning. Thanks for the help!
Hi I have a Gigabyte Case. On my front panel there are are 2 plugs. One is AC '97,the other is High Definition. The plugs have the same pins but arewired differently. If I plug in the High Definition plug,I have to change the audio settingto High Definition in Bios. See if your case is wired the same way. You might have theHigh Defination plugged in but not activated in Bios.
