Should I upgrade my GPU (8800 gt)

Or should I hold out a little longer? How much of a performance difference will I get if I go with the new 260, 285 brands?

Rest of my PC:

nvidia geforce 8800gt

windows vista home premium

intel core 2 quad cpu 2.4 ghz

3054 mb ramShould I upgrade my GPU (8800 gt)
Just wait for the DX 11 cards to either get one or buy the current cards at a reduced price. Their release is only months away now.Should I upgrade my GPU (8800 gt)
Well its up to you, personally iam going to try and get another 12 months out of mine but in reality the new generation thats around the corner would be a nice jump in performance.

My 8800GTS 512 still has quite a bit of life left in it, so I'm waiting for the next generation of cards.
Same here, the 8800's are still holding up pretty well. Really theres only a few games that a 8800 cant play on high settings
I'm holding up pretty good as well, but if another graphics hog comes out I was worried if the card can support it when dx 11 gpu's comes out. I get decent fps playing Crysis at Ultra High with Shadows on Low.
Dont worry dx 11 is at least another 6 months to a year before you really see true dx 11 games, and until then dx9/10 is enough.
Definitely keep it for a bit longer man, that's the best idea. Your card will last you a little while longer just fine. You should buy after Nvidia releases it's new 300 series cards, i'd say maybe 3-6 months after. There should be a price war between ATI and Nvidia around then and you will see the current high performers drop in price a bit. It's around then that you should start shopping around, you're bound to get a great deal compared to now.I used my 7600Gt from when it came out until about the middle of march this year. I'm glad I upgraded as it was seriously starting to be on it's last leg for the high end zone, but that little piece of hardware put on a long fight. Upgraded to a HD4870 for $140 with a shell shocker rebate on Newegg. Saved myself a lot of money and got a huge performance boost for the price.
ahh wait if you must really change get another for cheap %26 sli them..
Is SLI an option? If so, you may want to look into that while you still can. If not, I would wait for second gen DX11 cards. The second gen cards will perform better, run cooler, use less electricity per frame, and have a better cost to performance ratio.
Ya upgrading right now is good don't wait for the dx11 cards their just too much money from the listings they released forgot the link but I heard it was gonna be like $299 for one of the DX11 cards.

Would my 9800GTX+ hold out for another year you reackon?
