Upgrade current PC or is it too old in the tooth?

Hi all :-)

It wasn't until I started to play Assssins Creed %26 Splinter Cell Double Agent that the computer is showing it's age to really make the most of such visually exciting and demanding games.

I have a .....

Dell Dimension 9200 Vista

Intel(R) Core(TM) CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39GHz

2046 RAM NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS

CDRWDVD

DVD RW

But before I look into the costly route of buying a whole new computer, has my current one got more life in her yet and if so could you help me wih suggestions to what bits I need upgrading to? As i'm not a gaming junky (yet) my price bracket is moderate.

I would buy a 2x2gb RAM kit, and a nvidia 260 gtx gpu.Upgrade current PC or is it too old in the tooth?
It still has some life in it. Mostly needed is a newer gfx card, but that depends on your budget and your pc's power supply. Doubtful it could handle a high-end card, so you'd either need to replace that too, or go with a lesser card. Might also want to get a 2x2GB memory kit, they can be had for very cheap and Vista will make good use of it.
The most obvious thing that needs updating to me is the graphics card. But I'd wait just a tiny bit longer. The release of the ATI 5870 is imminent, so prices of current cards are expected to drop.
Thanks very much :-) I'll definitely take up your advice.
Your PC is absolutely fine! the only thing you NEED to upgrade is that **** video card you have, i suggest a ATI 4770.
