8800GT to a GTX 275 on a 24'' Monitor

So yesterday I picked up a 24'' Acer monitor and it looks great. The one thing I'm having a problem with is the drop in FPS I get in games. I'm thinking about picking up a GTX 275 but, I'm not sure if I should wait for the Directx 11 cards. Would the GTX 275 be able to hold me off for awhile at 24'' or would it be best to wait for a Directx11 card? Also the GTX 275 is only $150 dollars which is what I would want to be spending($150-$200) on a new video card. Here is a link to the video card: http://www.frys.com/product/5892363?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PGand here is the rest of my system:PHENOM 2 9208GB DDR2 RAM650WATT ANTEC PSUXFX 8800GT 512MB250GBx2 7200rpm drivesTerrible Old case :(Also running dual monitor setup with a 19'' monitor (usually just have a website or a video playing on the other monitor not a game). I'm thinking of either getting this card or holding out for a card and picking up a Antec 900 for 67 dollars at Best buy on clearance. Any help would be great thanks!8800GT to a GTX 275 on a 24'' Monitor
maybe turn off the aa and af and wait for dx11?if you want a new card now, get the 48908800GT to a GTX 275 on a 24'' Monitor
maybe turn off the aa and af and wait for dx11?if you want a new card now, get the 4890
No, get nvidia for better driver support in games. That is if you must. But wait for Dx11. And I don't understand how can someone recommedn 4890 which is generally a weaker card over a $150 275.

GIGABYTE GV-N275UD-896I GeForce GTX 275 896MB - $225; $220
yeah get it although i don't usually factor in rebates into price to much hassle for me.
If your motherboard has sli, then just pick another 8800GT.http://www.eworldsale.com/pny-xlr8-geforce-8800-gt-512mb-pci-express-dvi-tv-out_5881_18708.htmlhttp://cgi.ebay.com/nVidia-GeForce-8800-GT-512MB-PCI-e-Video-Card-8800GT_W0QQitemZ170376968845QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item27ab423a8d%26_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Step up is avaliable within 90 days of purchase

I'd still go with the GTX275, that is one good deal and if you are upgrading your GPU now then it's not one to pass up on.Besides not all games are guranteed to work smoothly with SLI. By the way yes your motherboard only supports crossfire. If i'm correct most AMD motherboard don't supports SLI.

I''m not really looking to pay $300 for a new card. Also do you think this card will hold up for a while with games like Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 coming out? I'm not really worried about pushing Crysis to the max i'm more worried about other games running good. I'm thinking about getting this card and then doing a step up in 90 days when the prices go down for the GTX 295.

When the DX11 cards come out then old card prices will drop. It is smart to wait until that happens to upgrade.

ATI DX11 cards come out next month correct? Would'nt I be able to get this GTX 275 then use the EVGA step up plan in 90days (when hopefully the prices are lower from the ATI card getting released) and get a GTX 295 or a DX11 card?
Go for the GTX 275 I am since I hear good things about the 275.
I currently have a Samsung 25.5'' monitor and a GTX 275 and running at 1920x1200. I can run every game I have on high (GTAIV), and very high (Fallout 3, COD: MW) and mainting 30+ fps. Shoot, I hooked it up through HDMI to my 32'' HDTV at the same resolution and all my games ran flawlessly until Avast decided to run an anti-virus check.I was also upgrading from an 8800GT, and definetly needed it when it started hitting 90C while playing WoW. The 275 is a good investment and I don't think I will have too many problems with games for the next few years.
I actually just upgraded from an 8800 GT to a GTX 275. The difference is outstanding. I play games like Crysis, Grid, Cod4, and the new Wolfenstein at highest allowed settings, 1680X1050 on an Acer monitor, flawlessly. I have my card paired with an Core 2 Duo E8500 and 3gig of ddr2 800mhz. Just get the card...

But only at that moment, later in veil it is fine.PS: Lol same here, from 8800 to 4890.

I used to run an 8800gt in my old Athlon X2 2.6ghz rig and max those games out. I ended up getting the GTS 512 for the better cooling and performance boost.
