At least N has been finalized and approved by IEEE. Thus ended the era of N-draft.
If you want the best then something like this: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1812670/wiffy_extreme_wifi_antenna/

The actual signal processor is quite simple, chances are they're all mass produced by the same company then repackaged, what makes a good wifi connection is a good aerial, as with regular radio, ham and satalites the basic rule is the bigger the aerial the better the connection.
So a $50 d-link card vs a $10 cheapo card will perform the same? just that the reviews are all troubling, I''ve never seen so many low reviews for this genre of products before. They all come down to the issue of weak range and stuttery connection, sometimes giving up the signal. Do all wireless cards face this?
