Best AGP Graphics card Upgrade

Hello All

I curently play MOHAA and COD2, both online. I have the following system with a 320gb harddrive

Mainboard : Asrock K7VT2

Chipset : VIA KT266/333

Processor : AMD Athlon XP @ 1666 MHz

Physical Memory : 1536 MB

Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3

DirectX : Version 9.0c (July 2007)

I would like to play later versions of COD and MOHAA. I have limited budget, and don't have the time or patience :-) to build a new system from the ground up.

My questions are;

1. What is the best value for money Graphics card I can upgrade to? I hear sticking with NVIDIA is a good idea, but would welcome altetrnatives. Also any new Graphics card has to be AGP 4x/2x 3.3v etc.

2. Is there also a suitable cpu upgrade you would recommend

Thank you in advance for your helpBest AGP Graphics card Upgrade
Well herehttp://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE%26N=40000048%26Description=agp%26bop=And%26ActiveSearchResult=True%26Order=PRICEDis a list of agp cards with the best one being the 4670, but by looking at your entire system, I can鑤 really suggest anything other than buiilding something new. Alternatively, you can try overclocking the processo( not sure how that would work with such an old cpu) or you can try to find a athlon 3200+ whcih I believe is the best for that socket.Best AGP Graphics card Upgrade

Well the 3850 is the best AGP card on the market, but it would be best to upgrade the rest of your system in any little way possible. So what's your budget?
Hi Ultimate and Goleaf. Thanks for the replies. My budget is no more than 100 to 120 pounds all in. So not huge, hoping to buy 2nd hand. The athlon 3200+ is a socket A, so that should be fine with my K7VT2 . Will I see a noticable improvement? The graphics cards on newegg, a lot to compare. I'll take a look at the 3850 as you suggest.
By the way, my k7vt2 has 4x/2x will the 3850 8x run on my board?

Thanks

Your best bet would be to do some shopping on Ebay and find sellers that will ship to the UK. I'll direct you o some listing if you'd like. the 3850 I think will run on your 4x motherboard but it will only run at 4x and not 8x. So I'd say get another motherboard, CPU, RAM, and video card if possible. hold on and I'll find some good listings for you.
Great stuff. thanks
Great stuff. thanks
how much wattage does your power supply have? you would probably have to upgrade this as well. Actually I think that it's best if you save up more money and then go make a purchase, because I do think you have enough money to upgrade all of the parts that would have to be upgraded.
300w. I anticipated your question and with the 3200+ and the 3850 I'll probably be on the limits

I doubt you'll find one second hand, people tended to upgrade to PCI-e well before the 3*** series came out
thanks markop.

their out of stock on the 3850, I'll keep checking. I read earlier that the 3650 is a nightmare for drivers. Thoughts anybody?
if your psu isnt strong enough try the hd 3650 or 4650..and then if those still are overpowered try the hd 2400pro or 4350
