I built a new rig primarily for gaming and I have installed a 500GB Hitachi 7200RPM w/ 16mb cache. Is this an adequate hard drive? Everything seems to be running smoothly as far as load times and boot up.I can hear the hard drive working once and a while (little scratch noises), is this normal?Let me know - thanks.Internal Hard Drives Question
Yeah, even though I don't particularly like Hitachi's it's is adequate and there shouldn't be any issues.Internal Hard Drives Question
Personally i'ld recommend getting another to use as a data drive, then if you ever pick up a virus or want to change OS ect you can just reformat your system drive and not have to worry about loosing all your music/having to re-rip it

Surely it would be better just to buy an external HDD and back it up on that aswell as on the main HDD because if one goes then you have one safe.
Thanks for all the feedback...So, overall I am going to be just fine and the performance of my Hitachi 7200rpm 16mb cache HDD will be fine for gaming?I like the idea of a second HDD - I'll look into that.If anyone else can chime in with input that would be excellent.THanks
