Samsung 206BW - turns on and off!

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but any idea why?

I've had it for two years now and recently, whenever I turn on my computer, I have to wait about a half hour for the screen to stop turning itself on and off before I can use it. To avoid this problem, I decided to just leave the whole system on until I could find a fix, only to have it accidentally turned off.

I turned my computer back on and for two days the screen has been blinking on and off, so I'm posting this from the internet browser of my PS3.

Could this be just because it's worn out? I've looked all over the internet but I can't seem to find anyone with the same problem as me...

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give :)Samsung 206BW - turns on and off!
Is the monitor literally turning off or is it just repeatedly losing its signal to your PC?Samsung 206BW - turns on and off!
It literally turns on and off because whenever it switches off, the blue LED indicator light thingy goes off.
...why would you leave a blinking, (apparently) unusable monitor on for 2 days? Along with your PC? I guess you just like wasting electricity... it's not going to magically fix itself just because you wait.edit: quick google search reveals lots of blinking LCD issues... one post suggested your problem might stem from bad grounding in your monitor, poorly soldered connection or something...
I have a similar sort of problem with my SyncMaster 940MG. I think it's about the same age as yours. If I turn it off and then turn it back on, the power light will just blink for a second then it will switch itself back off. I have to hold the power button down for about 30 secs while it blinks, after that it finally stays on. I don't have this problem if I leave it in stand-by mode. Like the other guy said, it's probably due to some worn out electrical component like a capacitor or something.
check the wire going to monitor. make sure its firmly in
Well the last time this happened, I had to leave it on for a few hours before it finally stopped turning on and off. All the cabels are plugged in right, as I've unplugged and plugged them in twice.

It also can't be the power cable because I used a different one and I still had the same problem.

I'll try the 30 second thing, though, thanks.
have your tried a different cable or monitor? might not be the monitor.
Yeah, I have and it's definitely the monitor.
My 19'' monitor did something similar to this. It would flash on and off, just long enough for me to see the desktop, then flash off again.

Turned out to the the monitors PSU. I was able to order one from somewhere and replace it. Hopefully your monitor is still under warranty.
Return it for repair. If that is not an option try slapping the back panel (that works for my LCD TV - som sort of loose connection, I guess).
OMFG!!! I have the SAME Problem!!! i just reboot over and over until it works rofl, usually only takes 5 min. Its weird, once it works and i restart it still works. Only if its off for many hours i have trouble getting it to turn on completely.

Edit: I have same monitor too.
